Hi! I’m Ashley, a social media producer and strategist based in New York, NY.
*Want to skip the backstory? Here are links to my resume, LinkedIn and work examples.
Twelve years ago I left South Jersey to chase two dreams: work in sports media and live in a major city. Since that move, I’ve called Boston, Chicago and New York City home. I’ve been privileged to work alongside some of the best in the business, with stops at NFL Films, NFL Network, NBC Sports Chicago and FanSided/Minute Media. It’s a journey that started in video and television production and led me to my current digital role: Director of Social Strategy at iHeartRadio.
While I have experience shooting, producing, editing and even being in front of the camera (nothing will teach you to roll with the punches quite like man-on-the-street interviews) it’s behind-the-scenes where I feel most creative and inspired. I take great pride in working to craft a brand’s voice. We’ve seen social media evolve to a space where users value authenticity and community. I believe it’s my job to create content that’s entertaining, charming and provides a space for fan interaction.
Working across platforms has greatly influenced my understanding of what makes content thrive in this digital space. As a content creator, I’ve learned it’s imperative to take creative risks and embrace ever-changing algorithms and trends. As a manager, I’ve learned that the best leadership is authentic and builds mutual trust. However, the greatest lesson I’ve learned through my work is that success is the product of a team’s preparation and adaptation. Strategy, analytics and plans are key- but flexibility is essential.
I often compare working in social media to learning a second language. You don’t wake up fluent. It takes time, practice and commitment to communicate effectively. I challenge myself to not just “speak” the language but immerse myself in communities to create content that sparks dialogue and connection. Work has taken me across the country, where I’ve been lucky enough to cover everything from award shows, to music festivals and multiple Super Bowls (obligatory go birds!). Every trip, every project, every day… I’m working towards perfecting my social media “language”. I can’t wait to see where the conversation takes us next.
